Baldo Baldi, an architect by education and nature, is considered one of the most talented pipe makers that Italy has ever given the world. His pipes have always been extremely rare and sought-after by the most discerning pipe smokers and collectors, due to the incredible hand work involved in the making of his pipes, and hence the very limited production. What do you on this site is the largest collection of Baldi pipes ever seen in any one place at any one time. Apart from a few local tobacco shops in Italy, this is the place for Baldo Baldi pipes.
Some important facts about Baldo Baldi pipes:
- They are made of the best briar ebouchons from Liguria (Italy) and Provence (SE, France).
- Baldi pipes are made of briar that has sat in Baldo's store room for about 15 years.
- Apart from an old drill that Baldo uses to make the tobacco chamber, each pipe takes shape though the tedious use of sandpaper and files.
- After more than 30 years of experience, it takes Baldo a minimum of 5 hours to make a pipe.
- The cleaner test is not applicable to Baldi bent pipes due to the way the draught hole is made; it's similar to Peterson pipes (but only in that!).
- All Baldi pipes have a tobacco chamber in its natural state. They are never pre-carbonized.
- These pipes are in most cases, free all even the tiniest sandpits. In many situations a Baldi pipe exhibits the best grain you can find one a briar pipe.
- Like other pipes on our site, every Baldi pipe is guaranteed by us and by the maker. On our part, if you receive a pipe and it's not what you thought it was, you send it back and get an immediate refund (as long the pipe remains unsmoked and in the condition it was sent in).

If you wonder why this pipe is not described as straight grain above, it makes two of us! Baldo downgraded it due to two almost invisible sandpits on the bowl of the bowl (it's so difficult to even spot them; you will need a magnifying glass). The shape is a wonderful Apple, with a Baldi twist. The rather long, robust shank, as well as the typical Baldi bowl-shank joint, makes the overall look and feel of the pipe quite unique. The way Baldo shaped the shank and the short saddle Fishtail mouthpiece make it an easy pipe to hold between your teeth. The tobacco chamber measures 23mm in diameter and 54mm in depth. |

This is a true find for Liverpool fans and collectors. This one, again, is without flaws or sandpits whatsoever. The grain is gorgeous and judging by standards other than those of Baldo Baldi, it is straight grain. Hey, it's not over yet: The pipe is fitted with a GENUINE AMBER mouthpiece! In spite of an extremely tiny slant in the fit between the mouthpiece and the shank (even Baldo doesn't see it; I do!), the fit poses absolutely no problems at all. It's also one of the most solid and robust amber mouthpieces I have ever seen on a pipe. The tobacco chamber is of a considerable size for such overall pipe dimensions.
